Turning the table: Science Fairs

Science Fairs(exhibitions as we called it) were always awesome. I remember taking part in a science exhibition for the first time in 5th standard with a working model demonstrating TV line scanners(the refresh patterns on TV screens. Thanks to my grandfather and mother for helping me make it!) and since then, I have participated in multiple science fairs every year.

Continuing the trend, yesterday I was at a science fair and for the first time, I was not participating. I was judging the event!

We were given out some cool white lab aprons which made us look like scientists!

It was funny to look at kids getting tense when we approached them. Just a few years ago, I was on that side of the table. Funny feeling.

I met some really interesting people in the judging committee and they gave me a deep and thorough insight into judging science fairs.

Many projects were good. The kids had some funny projects too, like one kid proved that plants don't need sunlight to grow. There was another kid who had done a research on which bubblegum flavor lasts longest by making his poor brother chew a variety of gums in close succession (bleh!).

P.S: On the way back, my car broke down and a 23 chapter melodrama unfolded and I had to blow 17 Benjamins on it. So much for euphoria.
